7 Ways to Increase Your Blog Posts for More Traffic
Let’s face it: Blogging is everywhere these days. There’s a blog for every subject you might ever dream of, from DIY home renovation to street fashion. If you have an idea, there are people out there ready to learn about it! Some will turn to blogs as a source of entertainment and motivation as the world transitions to the new standard of social distancing and WFH. And this begs the question: Why does the blog of your companies stand out? Unfortunately, writing good papers isn’t just the solution – that’s true, but not enough. We live in the age of overloading information; there are bound to be five people with an answer to every question.
The creation of blog posts that will gather viewers ‘ attention and attract more traffic will require a little more work. But don’t worry! This does not entail sitting in your pajamas (or your day’s WFH quarantine outfit) on your laptop computer for hours. To enhance your blogs, beyond posting, it will require some added thinking, which doesn’t mean you need to adopt a full-time influencer’s life. Remember when I said that every topic has an audience? It’s still true but your topic’s popularity (or lack of) can actually hurt your blog traffic. Let’s visit your childhood and the tale of Goldilocks and the three bears quickly to explain; the porridge was either too hot, too cold, or just good. Just like the porridge, your subject has to be correct in terms of its audience size. Choose a topic that’s too big and you might have a hard time standing out. If you’re choosing one too specific, you might have a hard time attracting a following. So here’s my advice: Reconsider the focus of your blog if your audience isn’t as large or reachable as you would like, and adjust it’s specificity accordingly.
2. Adjust posting frequency
Much like posting on social media, it is equally important to evaluate the blog post frequency. Write too much and may feel frustrated by your viewers; write too little and they may forget your blog altogether. There is no universally correct number of posts that will drive up your traffic – as fantastic as it would be. Don’t feel like you just need to pump out 5 blogs a week! Slowly start, add an extra post, or even play with one less post. Watch closely how your traffic responds, and you will gradually evaluate the amount that a steady stream of viewers will carry in!
3. Feature your most popular posts
Many blog sites will have a feature that allows users to view their most popular posts on the main page; my advice is to take advantage of this. By showing off some of your most successful posts, it will impress any viewer coming to your page first, and increase the likelihood that they will also visit your other posts. Take some time to take a look through your past blogs and see which ones have received the most commitment and views. Through showcasing these specific posts, visitors will be more likely to return to your blog site to see similar content!
4. Post about your blog
Occasionally less is better, but in this case not. You should not stop promoting your blog once it’s published. Now is the time to tap your side of influencer, and post, post, post! I’ve worked in a variety of companies with blog sites, and if I’ve learned anything, it’s because social media blogging is a sure way to increase traffic. Provide clickable links to your latest Facebook and Twitter blogs, and post a website link in your Instagram bio to your blog. Increasing the reach of your blogs through social media will definitely boost your blog traffic and show your followers that outside of these sites, you have more to give.
5. Add keywords
SEO means “Search Engine Optimization,” or optimizing the content so that the search results rank higher. One of the best ways to dip your toes into SEO is by using keywords that are currently common in your niche to your content. For instance, if I wanted to write a blog about pop culture, I’d sprinkle on keywords like “Gigi Hadid,” “Charli D’Amelio,” or “Tiger King” (all current trending topics in the celebrity realm). Using keywords will improve the chances of your blog being more prominent in web searches, thus attracting more traffic to your pages!
6. Follow related blogs for inspiration
The good thing is that you aren’t alone. Where there’s one industry blog, there’s bound to be a lot more, and that’s not always a bad thing! In reality, there is no better inspiration from other businesses and leaders relevant to your subject than the current material. If you feel lost, or just need somewhere to just start your blog, look for inspiration from others. Connect with them.

Here’s a tip that will give you a rest from typing your tired fingers: invite someone else to write a blog on your website. I don’t mean someone you meet at random on the street (but who am I judging your strategy?), but someone in your industry. Although it may be an exciting idea to partner with your rival, there’s no need to panic.
Guest blogging can be a friendly way of helping each other gain new blog traffic and introducing the content of your brand to a whole new public. Through hosting content on your site from another industry professional, you will be able to offer your readers a fresh perspective – and keep them coming back for more.
